About

Douglas Alan Pearce, Published Author

One of the greatest highs I've ever experienced was when my short story, Earl, was published in the Summer 2010 issue of Mobius Magazine.

Authonomy.com’s Top Ten Talent Spotters call my writing "funny," "kick-ass," and "Steinbeckian."

In past lives, I've pumped yogurt, led dripping wet tourists through haunted woods, and had a bizarre variety of strangers sit behind me in a taxi.

Odd Fact: Circle-A tattoo that stands for (your choice of) Anarchist, Atheist, or Alcoholic (sober over a decade). Other Odd Fact: I lived in Seattle for precisely six years to the exact day and hour.

I'm thrilled to present my action-adventure, family dynamic, political-thriller, sci-fi novel, Children of the Salton Sea for sale on Amazon.comJust $2.99 includes free wireless delivery to your iPad, Kindle, Android, iPhone, or PC!

Julia Pearce, Editor

A professional editor, Julia first got into trouble when the police demanded her notes after her investigative journalism piece debuted in the UC Santa Cruz newspaper.

Her feminine perspective brought the characters of Nova and Sinta to life. My favorite of all the red-ink corrections she’s written in the margins:

“Eeew! No woman would drool! I don’t do I?”

Her gentle but firm honesty convinced me to axe tens of thousands of (brilliant) words from my original manuscript.

Jeff Pearce, Maritime Consultant

Jeff is a licensed Merchant Marine officer serving aboard a Navy-owned oil tanker. He recently completed fast rescue boat training and certification on small arms marksmanship.

His answering message says, “I’m either away from my desk or in Antarctica at the moment.”

Formerly my arch-nemesis, Jeff has finally seen the light and turned to the dark side. I mean light side. His patient review of my manuscript for Sailors and Scumbags led to a solid, believable presentation of ship’s safety procedures (and how they can be circumvented to my own nefarious ends).

Note to pirates everywhere: Be advised that Sailors and Scumbags should not be used as a how-to manual for taking over oil tankers. Most ships possess security systems that I left out of my novel in order to deliberately thwart your plans. Go get a real job.

Tery Williams, Web Designer

Renaissance Man is a phrase that is over-used today, but how else would you describe a guy who can shoot, direct, edit, sound engineer, lay in titles, render special visual effects, and be so successful as an independent contractor, especially in this economy?

Tery’s sense of design layout and his technical knowledge are only surpassed by his fashion sense.

He’s also great in bed.
